Tutor A Deaf Child
One month of tutoring
Problem
Deaf students need Deaf teachers. But it’s hard for Deaf high schoolers to get into teacher training college. They’re capable kids who want to succeed, but it’s tough to get good grades while struggling to understand your hearing teacher. Deaf high schoolers need literacy tutoring to get the grades necessary for teachers’ college. Tutoring benefits all Deaf teens by giving a solid foundation for employment and navigating the challenges ahead.
The Gift
Your contribution of $65 supports one month of intensive literacy tutoring for a small group of Deaf high schoolers. The tutors focus on reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Other academic subjects and basic study skills are included as needed. Tutors use visual teaching methods to match the learning style of Deaf students. Tutors are qualified persons who know how to sign. What a meaningful way to support Deaf education in developing countries! Deaf high schoolers really want to succeed. Your donation will make it possible for Deaf teens to improve their academic performance and be ready to enter teacher training college or pursue the employment opportunity of their dreams. Your gift of one month of literacy tutoring will be provided by Global Deaf Connection.
