Help Working Poor
Back To School Program
Problem
About 20% of families in Travis County are classified as “working poor”. Education is so important to the future of our children and communities at large. Many people in our community cannot afford clothes or school supplies for their children. Arriving at school totally unprepared can be devastating for a child, but a successful first day of school sets an upbeat tone for the entire coming school year.
The Gift
Your gift will subsidize the cost of two new outfits, including socks and underwear, and a backpack with the grade appropriate school supplies for one child. Having prepared more than 10,000 children for the first day of school since 2000, Manos de Cristo has set a goal this year of serving 1800 pre-K through 5th graders.
