Overview

Winrock International offers sustainable solutions to the complex challenges people face worldwide. Integrated programs make the difference, providing strategies address problems comprehensively. Our proven record and presence in more than 65 countries each year enables us to respond rapidly to changing economic, environmental, and social conditions – in developed countries or emerging nations. We work as a partner with those we serve to improve lives and livelihoods through long-term productivity, equity, and responsible resource management.

Mission

Winrock International works with people in the United States and around the world to increase economic opportunity, sustain natural resources, and protect the environment.

Program

Winrock’s three program groups provide technical assistance and development services in more than 50 specialties. Empowerment & Civic Engagement - Winrock strengthens the capacity of women, children, youth, and civil society organizations to actively participate in local and national development and to transform their societies. Programs offer solutions to the most pressing problems, including equitable access to goods and services, employment, civic participation, prevention of human trafficking and child labor and others. Activities focus on Civil Society Strengthening, Women's Empowerment, and Youth Leadership & Education. Enterprise & Agriculture - Winrock's integrated programs support establishment and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and agricultural initiatives that target sustainable production driven by market demand. These sectors play critical role in the development and stability of communities and nations. Activities focus on Agriculture, U.S. Programs, Volunteer Assistance, and work of the Henry A. Wallace Center.
Environment: Forestry, Energy & Ecosystem Services – Winrock promotes sustainable use and management of natural resources to support the food and income needs of growing populations and the health of the planet. These activities encompass a broad range of programs and services including: Clean Energy, Ecosystem Services, Forest Management Services, and Forestry & Natural Resource Management.

Impact

Thanks to the hard work of Winrock staff, our projects are making a profound, long-term difference in people’s lives around the world: Agricultural advancements have led to longer growing seasons, greater yields, increased family income, and year-round food security.

Some of the most remote villages now enjoy the benefits of electricity generated by renewable energy systems that power schools, health clinics, and households. Micro loans and training have given thousands of budding entrepreneurs, many of them women, the capital and skills they need to start small businesses and earn greater income.

Family members will receive training about the health risks associated with indoor smoke and strategies to remain healthy. Your gift will purchase one family's share in a community water system to support small scale production of high value crops like fruits and vegetables. School scholarship

Your gift will provide an educational scholarship for a child and a small loan to help offset the cost of his or her labor for the parent or guardian. The child will be enrolled in a formal school. The loan will be used to improve the family enterprise and will be paid back to the school to cover tuition costs over a three-year period.

Nonprofit improvement

Your donation will enable a representative from a small, Arkansas nonprofit to obtain organization and management skills, learn strategies for building fiscal responsibility, identify new sources of funding, and develop the capability to attract financial support for programs and projects.
