United Spinal Association was founded in 1946 by veterans with spinal cord injuries to help enable members, as well as others with disabilities, to lead full and productive lives.

United Spinal Association is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Americans with spinal cord injuries and disorders.

United Spinal enhances the lives of its members through its service and program offerings in: counseling; referrals and service identification and location; wheelchair and assistive technology consultation; veterans Services; sports and recreational opportunities; peer coaching; health and benefits information; self-advocacy coaching and support; disaster assistance; and legislative advocacy.

United Spinal advocated for and drafted significant provisions of landmark federal legislation including The Americans with Disabilities Act, The Fair Housing Amendments Act, The Air Carrier Access Act, VA benefits for veterans with spinal cord disabilities, and veteran dependents with spina bifida, and VA disability benefits for injured veterans returning from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. We also provide unique opportunities such as educational conventions and adaptive sport tournaments and clinics that keep our members connected to the community and their peers, and allowing them to pursue their own interests and passions regardless of their disability.

A Gift Card

Equip Cyclers

One hand cycle

Your gift of $1500 will cover the cost of one hand cycle, and give a child the opportunity to participate in an activity typical of any able-bodied child. No boy or girl should go through childhood without getting to ride a bike with his/her friends, and children with disabilities are no exception.

Fund A Clinic

One sports clinic

By donating a generous $500 this holiday season, you can cover the cost of one adaptive sports clinic. At these clinics, athletes get coaching tips, meet new friends, learn about other opportunities and build their own confidence. It is also an opportunity for parents to network. Your donation will provide this experience to these child athletes and their families.

Maintain A Chair

Tires and tubes

By donating $250, you can replace the tires and tubes of one chair. This lets the child athlete participate without worrying about the cost of replacing them should they pop or break, and lets his/her parents provide this athletic opportunity for personal and physical growth.

Promote Fun

Sled Hockey safety gear

With all the other costly items children with disabilities need, it's hard to for their families to afford this equipment. For a gift of $75, you can give a child the opportunity to participate in an exciting season of Sled Hockey, while ensuring that their safety always takes precedent.

Encourage Athletes

One sport jersey

Your $30 gift will help change that, and let these athletes look as competitive as they play. A uniform gives these athletes the confidence and self-respect to go out and prove to everyone that they are athletes!

Support A Clinic

One set of basketballs

By donating $50, you allow us to purchase a set of basketballs for our Wheelchair Basketball Clinic held multiple times throughout the year. This ensures that everyone who comes out will have the chance to participate and develop their athletic abilities.

Promote Safety

One safety helmet

Your gift of $20 will provide one safety helmet for a child, ensuring that every child athlete that wishes to participate in adaptive sports has the opportunity to do, and with all the necessary safety precautions in place
