PARSA is the first Persian community foundation in the United States and the leading Persian philanthropic institution practicing strategic philanthropy and promoting social entrepreneurship around the globe. The organization is a nonpartisan, nonreligious, nonprofit registered as a 501(c) (3) entity in the United States. PARSA Community Foundation does not make grants in Iran.


PARSA Community Foundation’s mission is to become the leading institution practicing strategic philanthropy and promoting social entrepreneurship towards a strong global Persian presence. PARSA invests in these common causes:
• Preservation and advancement of Iranian arts and culture;
• Development of leaders through education and awards systems; and
• Encouragement of civic participation and non-profit capacity building.


PARSA is primarily a grant-making foundation that funds programs implemented by other non-profits.


Managing the largest independent endowment fund dedicated to Persian philanthropy, PARSA provides tax-advantaged vehicles to donors and makes grants to nonprofit organizations. PARSA provides a platform to enable collaborative giving, philanthropic education and purposeful networking.

Your gift will help fund an Ashoka fellow of Persian origin as part of the Ashoka PARSA Partnership for Social Entrepreneurship. The Ashoka PARSA Partnership for Social Entrepreneurship will financially support a fellow anywhere in the world Ashoka operates for three years based on his or her need, giving the fellow the resources to develop and implement his or her idea full-time. Nonprofit Summit

This gift will fund lodging and transportation for one nonprofit activist to attend PARSA’s annual summit of Iranian NGOs aimed at promoting networking, collaboration, and sharing of best practices. The summits will alternate between Southern California and Washington, DC.


Promote Tolerance

Persian Day of Service

Your gift will fund transportation and supply costs for a local community’s implementation of the National Day of Service. For the Persian-American National Day of Service, PARSA will partner with dedicated local organizations and provide coordination and national publicity to facilitate the successful implementation of a local campaign. Promote Giving

4-hour workshop

This gift makes it possible to provide 4-hour philanthropy workshops to educate up to 50 people about the benefits of strategic philanthropy. The outcomes of the workshop are threefold: inspire participants to learn more about philanthropy, encourage participants to donate money to charitable causes, and encourage participants to donate their time to charitable causes.
