Layne's Legacy assists families with gravely ill children. We support by paying for housing so parents and siblings can be near child in the hospital. We also help with gas cards, bone marrow/blood drives, and other expenses that are a burden to the family during this critical time from diagnoses through treatment. We are a volunteer based group that have a compassion for the parents faced with the hardship of managing and caring for an ill child.
Our founder Theresa LaRue, has first hand experience of mothering her 3 sons with immune disorders. Two of her son's are healthy today due to bone marrow transplants. Her almost 3 year experience living in and out of hospital, gave her unique outlook on what is needed for the families we care for. Theresa's son Layne LaRue who passed away in 1995, was the inspiration for our organization.
Mission
To assist families faced with a child diagnosed with a long-term illness. We offer financial support for housing, medical expenses and other needed items during treatment. Lastly, to provide compassion, education and other resources as necessary.

No Child Left Alone: Covering Housing Cost for parents and/or siblings during hospital stays.
Fuel for Love: Gas Cards
Blood/Bone Marrow Drives: Covers cost and planning for successful drive.
Encouragement Package: Gifts of needed items for child and parent during hospital stay.
Impact
We have currently provided support for over 300 families.
Goals
Currently 65 percent of our budget is spent on housing. We pay $124 per night for a parent to stay near their child in the hospital. Many parents can't pay this expense, so the choice can be heartbreaking. It is our goal that every child have at lease one parent with them during hospital stays and treatments.
