Overview

International Humanity Foundation (IHF) is a grass roots volunteer organization mobilizing volunteers worldwide to help the poorest of the poor. This social and cultural exchange provides an educational experience for those in need and those that help while creating long lasting relationships.

Mission

IHF focuses on educating and feeding children who come from the most marginalized and disadvantaged backgrounds. IHF has set up orphanages in Kenya, Indonesia and Thailand. We seek to provide a way for children to get an education that they desperately desire and are not able to receive. By educating and teaching these children that they are significant and competent, we also teach them that everyone has a voice that matters. IHF promotes self-sufficiency in the communities we work in, primarily focusing on the education, nutrition, and care of children. IHF encourages understanding and caring between people of all nations and religions in order to better prepare the leaders of future generations. We desire for every student in the United States to have communication with students abroad who are different both culturally and socioeconomically, in order for all students to be educated about the world they live in.

Program

IHF's programs are focused in Kenya, Indonesia, and Thailand. We put our mission statement into action through six basic programs:

Orphan Sponsorship Program - Many of these children do not have parents due to plagues, the tsunami, HIV, or abandonment due to financial hardship. When these desperate children have nowhere else to go, IHF becomes their legal guardian and they become part of a new family in the orphanage.

The Education Program (T.E.P.) - Through T.E.P., we send children to school, who otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity to do so

Class-To-Class Sponsorship - The program seeks to build grassroots connections between students in the US and the poorest of poor students overseas. These classes teach the fundamentals of education in order to provide a way for these impoverished children to rise out of an unclear and disheartening lifestyle. They are taught English, Computer, and Leadership skills.

Survival Program - Families in the East Central Pokot, Kenya survive on the milk and blood of goats, combined with the dirt itself for minerals. Due to tribal warfare, goats are being stolen from families, and therefore their survival method is removed.

Tribal Peace Center - Fatal tribal warfare is taking place due to the drought and the desperate search for water and food. Tribes are killing each other in the hope of finding water and nourishment to feed their own families. The purpose of this center is to have a pace for young members of enemy tribes to live together, and to seek solutions that will harvest peace.

Famine Feed - Due to present extreme conditions in Kenya resulting from the past drought, we are currently conducting a famine feed each month. This feeds over 1,000 people, mostly women and children. These famine feeds are conducted out in desert areas of nomadic tribes. These people are in a state of prolonged malnutrition, too many dying as a result of dry season droughts.

Impact

International Humanity Foundation is a non-profit that is run by volunteers all across the globe. IHF supports over 4,000 children, on a budget of about $8,000 per month. It is so little but it makes such a difference.
