The poor in overseas under-developed countries rarely can afford or have access to proper vision analysis and correction. This in turn requires skilled laboratory work to prepare each eyeglass lens to the prescription, and trained technicians are essential to operate the proper equipment on a continuing basis. Retraining new tecnicians is also required when lab turnover occurs.
