Prepare For Work
Job readiness support
Problem
Many homeless people face serious difficulties in trying to gain adequate income to afford their own home. Many have been out of work for long periods of time due to health issues or have never worked, such as single mothers escaping domestic violence. Some have physical or mental disabilities yet want to work and contribute. Special training, education on workplace issues, work experience, and literacy classes may be needed to help homeless people prepare for and find living wage work.
The Gift
This gift will provide support to help one homeless person build the skills needed to find living wage work. Assistance will be given as needed by the individual, and may include tuition for community college courses, enrollment in special training, study materials, transportation, or work materials or clothing. It may also include health or mental health services needed to help a disabled individual participate in daily work activities. This assistance can help a homeless person build real job skills, and acquire the confidence and motivation needed to compete in a truly challenging economic environment.
