In so doing, we strengthen and set in place programs that enable the poor and marginalized to exercise their inalienable rights to food, healthcare, education, and security.

Mission

ActionAid is a unique partnership of people who are fighting for a world without poverty, in which every person can exercise their right to a life of dignity. We work with poor and marginalized people to help eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustice and inequity that cause it.

Program

ActionAid's broad mission is based on the following themes.

Women's rights: Ensuring inequalities are broken

HIV & AIDS: Working at community, national and international levels, we campaign for the right to life and dignity in the face of HIV & AIDS.

Corporate accountability: Ensuring corporate accountability on behalf of the poor.

Education: Our education work is based on over 30 years of experience in the field.

Trade: Working to end unfair international trade rules

Emergencies and conflict: ActionAid provides immediate relief in emergencies, we also set up long-term projects to help the most vulnerable people rebuild their lives, their communities and livelihoods.

International aid & debt: We work to ensure more and better aid, in combination with significant debt relief has the potential to lift millions of people out of poverty and secure their basic rights.

Impact

Helping some 10 million people a year, ActionAid's approach enables sustainable change through the organizing and empowerment of those who once felt they had no voice due to their poverty. In times of disaster, ActionAid International provides direct assistance to ensure that the world’s poorest people receive the relief they desperately need.
