Expedite Aid
One month of relief
Problem
For years now, a severe drought has been scorching the Horn of Africa, the easternmost peninsula of the continent that includes Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Somalia, drastically affecting food sources for local people. Generous people all over the world have contributed food and supplies through a number of agencies, but a lack of coordination between them could limit the effectiveness of the relief effort and leave some communities without vital, life-saving aid.
The Gift
Veterans for America’s Information Management & Mine Action program has deployed a geographic information specialist to Africa who will help coordinate transportation of relief supplies, ensuring that aid will quickly reach all the affected communities. Working with the support of the United Nations, he is managing the collection and analysis of on-the-ground humanitarian relief efforts and coordinating this information flow to a number of agencies. Our specialist is also creating maps and distributing them to local authorities and national and international organizations and agencies to enable their relief activities. Without this information a number of communities in crisis could be left without vital aid. Your gift will enable our coordinator to remain in Africa for one additional month to continue the collection and distribution of life-saving information. Please help us provide the tools that enable vital aid to get to the people that need it most!
