Problem
Democratic governments are beginning to emerge in sub-Saharan Africa that are capable of leading the process of real consensus-building required in each nation to formulate and implement a development strategy. The U.S. needs to support programs that respond to the core needs and strategies defined and led by Africans themselves, but it is difficult for African experts to travel to the U.S. and participate in discussions that influence U.S. assistance priorities for their country.
The Gift
Your gift of $200 will pay for one day of food and lodging to allow an African expert to discuss the goals, objectives and programs of his or her country’s development strategy directly with U.S. policymakers, development agency officials, and the U.S. public, including potential investors.
