Give Women Credit
Knitting supplies
Problem
Many poor women in Latin America live on less than $2 a day. They do not have the means to support themselves or their families. Because of their economic situation they are excluded from typical credit providers, as women they are also excluded from many of the traditional jobs open to men. They become trapped in a cycle of poverty. Pro Mujer loans help these women start or expand a business and create a sustainable income for themselves and their families.
The Gift
Pro Mujer helps poor women entrepreneurs start or expand a small business. A loan of $50 could allow a client to buy a knitting basket with yarn and needles to knit garments for sale in the local market. This initial investment will allow the client an opportunity to support herself and her family.
