Provide Job Training
Adult job skill training
Problem
The National Housing Trust provides quality, stable housing to thousands of low income families-- housing that serves as a foundation for families to pursue their dreams. But in today’s competitive economy, working parents also need job training to ensure they have the skills to secure good paying jobs. With this aim, the National Housing Trust strives to provide quality job training and job placement services at many of its properties.
The Gift
A donation of $160 will help an adult pursue a better life through job training and counseling. Our residents receive career counseling, resume assistance, pre-employment training and direct job placement. A donation will also help us develop crucial partnerships with local employers which allow us to find quality jobs for our residents. We have had success finding quality jobs for our residents. Just ask Ebony Thomas, a young woman who lived at one of our DC properties. Ebony did not graduate from high school and did not have the skills to secure a decent paying job. We worked with the GENESIS/CVS job training program to get Ebony quality job training. After six weeks of training, Ebony received full time employment at a local CVS store. In her own words: “Now that I have a foot in the door, I’m determined not to stop there."
