3 months of research
Problem
Currently, around 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS around the world. Every day, there are 14,000 new infections, 95 percent in the developing world. A vaccine is the best hope for stopping AIDS, and trials of vaccine candidates are necessary to find a safe and effective vaccine. Access to technology is essential for sharing data and conducting vaccine trials, however this access is hard to come by in the rural areas where we work.
The Gift
Your donation will provide network access to one researcher for three months. AIDS vaccine clinical studies are very data-transfer intensive and require local scientists to be kept up-to-date on research and procedures. Your support will ensure that clinical data gets entered into centralized databases quickly and that local scientists have access to the latest study results and research. AIDS vaccine research requires complicated technology. Your gift of increasing access to technology will help to speed the search for an AIDS vaccine as well as build capacity in the developing world.
