Health worker training
Problem
There are currently around 40 million people living with HIV/AIDS around the world. Every day, there are 14,000 new infections, and 95 percent of those are in the developing world. A vaccine is the best hope to stop the AIDS epidemic, and trials of vaccine candidates are necessary to find a safe & effective vaccine. It is essential that local clinicians for these trials are trained in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
The Gift
Your donation will cover the cost of training one local healthcare clinician in Good Clinical Practice standards. GCP workshops train participants on ethical responsibilities, safety assessments, standard operating procedures and much more. Case studies and hands-on experience transfer skills and create team-building opportunities. GCP training also helps build capacity in the community and the experience contributes to trainees’ careers. These trainings also help to accelerate the timeline for the discovery of an AIDS vaccine by enhancing the ability of sites to conduct vaccine trials. Your generous gift will fully train one local clinician in GCP standards, which will significantly improve that person’s career opportunities and will also provide the necessary workers for trial sites working to find an AIDS vaccine.
