Light A Lab
One week of power
Problem
Finding a vaccine is the key to ending the AIDS epidemic. IAVI’s field research sites depend on an ongoing power supply for normal daily activities. It is also absolutely critical that vaccines and sample assets are maintained at the correct temperature or this important research will be compromised. At our sites in Uganda, power outages are regular, and most areas only have power on alternating days. IAVI’s backup generators often act as primary power supplies.
The Gift
Your gift will provide the necessary money to keep the power on at one of our sites for one week. This will allow the lab and clinic to function, and will provide the essential security that the research samples will not be spoiled. It is vital that these scientists have all the tools they need for their research so they can find a vaccine as soon as possible. Your gift will allow the lights to stay on, and the freezers to stay cold for one week. This will allow the scientists to continue their important research. With 14,000 new infections every day, there is no time to lose. Even a moderately effective AIDS vaccine would save tens of millions of lives.
