Your donation will equip a village-based primary eye care provider or health workers with a FOCOMETER®. The FOCOMETER® is an optical device that allows providers to measure visual errors and dispense corrective lenses. It is easy to use and does not require electricity. The FOCOMETER® gives reasonably close readings (within 0.5 diopter) when compared with other refracting methods. The device has been tested with success in over 20 countries. Currently there are “Village Vision Station” programs in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico, Haiti, Tanzania, Uganda and many other areas that have benefited from the FOCOMETER®.
