Doll making business
Problem
Students in the Francophone West African country of Mali have little access to technology. Not being willing to be passive, they have embarked on an entrepreneurial business to make and sell well-crafted dolls that also tell about Mali culture--through the dolls' clothes and the musical instruments that some of them play. Proceeds from the doll sales go entirely to buy computers for their schools, also resulting in heightened technology and global awareness skills.
The Gift
Your gift will result in two benefits. Disadvantaged children in the community who have few toys will receive the dolls. The other result is for the education and skills development of students in Bamako, Mali who will be able to interact online with their peers in the United States. They want to be able to share their culture, as well as the history of West Africa, online in French-language discussions with US students. Your gift of $20 contributes to these goals.
