Launch An Activist
One week of free lunch
Problem
Human rights activists in Asia are vastly outnumbered by human rights violators. Rights defenders need good training: in research, documentation, law, trauma and a host of other issues. They need to get out of their town or village and into a bigger world for a while, where they can be exposed to new ideas, people, technologies and possibilities that they can use and make their own.
The Gift
You can help launch one of a new generation of Asian activists by paying for a week of food and travel expenses for one human rights intern. Some food and a bus fare may not sound like anything special, but it is. Through this gift, you will be nourishing and transporting this person while he or she gets great opportunities to speak, learn, listen and gain a whole new perspective on what it means to fight for human rights in Asia: and that's a big deal; something that will last a lot longer than the week it takes to digest. Your gift of a week of food and transport to a human rights intern will be provided in Hong Kong by the Asian Human Rights Commission.
