Support An Artist
The gift of time
Problem
In order to accept a Fellowship at MacDowell, many artists need to apply for financial aid to cover expenses during their residency. Stipends provide direct grants to approximately half the artists-in-residence, helping to defray a myriad of costs, including travel, rent, and childcare expenses, and replacing lost income during a residency.
The Gift
Your gift to help provide financial aid stipends to artists makes it possible for them to accept Fellowships to work at MacDowell. Stipends are especially critical for many emerging artists and those who find it impossible to support themselves solely through the creation of art. By eliminating financial barriers to accepting a Fellowship, you will be helping to provide the opportunity of a residency to artists of talent. “Without the existence of The MacDowell Colony, thousands of artists would never have adequate time and space to realize their visions. Thousands of works of art would never have come to fruition." --writer Walter Mosley
