Problem

No one should have to experience the first weeks and months of life after spinal cord injury alone. Trained peer visitors reach out to newly injured individuals as soon after their diagnosis as possible to provide a tangible source of information and hope for life after spinal cord injury.

The Gift

With thirty newly injured individuals each day, many are forced to figure out how to get on with their life without the guidance of a peer mentor. Our National Peer Support Network arranges for a visit to the hospital bed of a newly injured individual within 48 hours of their injury, and a connection to return home, to the community, and on to a meaningful life. Each gift to our National Peer Support Network allows us to reach more and more people as soon as they begin to face their diagnosis and all of the questions about what their life will be like. Each gift will be used to facilitate an initial visit and ongoing training and support for our peer visitors/mentors. $100 allows us to send a qualified peer mentor to visit an individual with a new injury.
