Reduce HIV Risk
Distribute 250 condoms
Problem
The vast majority of people contract HIV sexually and condoms remain the only technology available to protect against sexual transmission of HIV. Condoms also help prevent other sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies and the complications that arise from them. National governments and international donors have an obligation under international law to ensure an adequate supply. Yet demand for condoms is not met by supply and the most impoverished communities cannot afford them.
The Gift
Condoms save lives and they are a vital tool in our efforts to prevent HIV infection. They are also essential to the maintenance of other elements of sexual and reproductive health, such as the prevention of unwanted pregnancy and of sexually transmitted infections. With education, support and consistent supply, people can learn to integrate condom use into their sexual lives, and protect themselves and their partners.
